Commissioner of Elections

The Story County Auditor, Lucy Martin, is our Commissioner of Elections. Her office is located at 900 Sixth St., Nevada, Iowa 50201-2087. As Commissioner of Elections, the Auditor manages all regular and special elections in the county which include federal, state, county, city, community college, and school district elections.

The City of Ames is served by a mayor and six council members. An ex-officio member from Iowa State University also sits on the council as a non-voting member. The city is divided into four wards, with one council member representing each ward. The remaining two council members represent the city at large.
